An oak staircase is really timeless. They are well-suited to different designs, including modern and more traditional alternatives. A wooden staircase really adds depth and beauty which cannot be rivalled by other designs.
This is where our skilled craftsmanship really does show. The technicalities and details needed to accurately plan and execute a project like this are quite complex. However, over our many years in the trade, they have become second nature to us.
Oak Staircase Revamp
This customer in Brereton, Cheshire wanted an oak staircase revamp to replace the white pine painted one she had. To remove the pine newels and stringers completely would be very expensive as it’s a total new staircase. Here at Squirrel Joinery, we are able to half lap joint the oak newel onto the pine one which creates an almost invisible and super strong joint then make to square to provide a “grown there” look.
Many homes have painted architraves and skirting boards and combining the two on a staircase always works really well. Our client was really pleased with the results.
