MDF wall panelling adds incredible character. Years ago, lots of buildings such as courts, churches, drawing rooms and rooms of distinction had stained oak or pitch pine panelling in them. It is well accepted that they still look amazing today. In modern times we seem to be painting as our main choice of décor.
Therefore, making panelling out of oak or pitch pine would be inappropriate and a waste of money if you are going to paint it. There is another solution. One that is better suited to match the individual requirements of panelling your home.
On this occasion the customer wanted to cover up the walls with panelling. They then wanted to have it painted as the house is modern. Therefore, we just made the panelling out of MDF which takes paint really well as you can see.
Why should you use MDF for wall panelling?
MDF is a better solution when considering panelling in your home. If you were to select an oak or pitch pine, you would essentially be using a superior material and then painting over it.
Using MDF for panelling does not mean that it won’t last. MDF will be long-lasting and selecting a paint finish that best compliments your home will finish it off beautifully.
MDF is generally cheaper than other types of wood. The top surface of MDF is very smooth, which makes it great surface for painting. As a wood type, it is consistent throughout. This means that any cut edges appear smooth. Chips, void or splinters will not be visible. These smooth edges mean that the edges of the project can be finished as decorative elements of your joinery project.
This MDF panelling, once painted, transformed this home. It adds real character, quality and sophistication. If you would like to request a joinery quote, please call today on 07887 987427.
