Squirrel Joinery provide and fit laminate flooring, engineered flooring and solid wood flooring each one enhancing a home greatly.
Laminate floors are greatly used in homes across the UK; they are strong and durable and are available at perth flooring solutions, they come in many different shades and wood grain effect to suit all home decor.
The image on the left shows a laminate floor that we laid in Middlewich, Cheshire. Laminate flooring is very stable and can be used in older buildings and areas where the moisture content of the sub floor is not perfect, a good underlay is always necessary.
The image on below shows laminate flooring that we laid in Arclid near Sandbach. It really did transform the room and this client chose to have matching skirting which gave the room the ‘wow’ factor that they were looking to achieve.
Engineered flooring is a combination of solid wood and laminate, the top 4mm (varies brand to brand) is solid timber whilst the bottom section (generally 10mm) is plywood.
This replicates the look of solid wood with the stability of laminate, although unlike laminate can be prone to scratches and is a more expensive; an underlay is always necessary.
Solid wood flooring is the prime of all the flooring grades, clearly displaying the timbers natural beauty and can be glued straight down to the sub floor so there are no hollow sounds underfoot.
Although it does scratch over time it can be re-sanded to restored back to new. Solid wood floors are generally unstable so sub floor must be sealed and totally dried; this type of wood flooring cannot be used in damp areas.
Solid wood can be put down as a floating floor on underlay just like laminate and engineered flooring to prevent bowing.
