Carpentry and joinery are, in our opinion, trades that requires in depth understanding of so much. Learning is multi-faceted and comes mainly from decades of experience. Some ask us what the difference is between a joiner and a carpenter.
What is the difference between joinery and carpentry?
Some get confused between the two. Carpentry by its definition is “the activity or occupation of making or repairing things in wood.” Joinery by its definition is “the wooden components of a building, such as stairs, doors, and door and window frames, viewed collectively.”
Both carpentry and joinery are construction trades. However, in its simplest and traditional sense, joiners ‘join’ wood in a workshop, whereas carpenters construct the building elements.
Either way both trades demand great understanding and skill to complete their work. There is great appreciation shared between tradesmen and those who employ traditional methods.
Squirrel Joinery are able to offer a wide range of joinery projects; all made to measure and with experience and passion for what we do. Did you know that we also sell high-quality oak, if you are undertaking a DIY project?
One of the reasons why we got into oak sales is that we realised individuals could only really buy oak in bulk. This does not necessarily work for everyone. Yes, for larger trades it is great as you are getting good value for purchasing in bigger quantities. However, we wanted to offer high-quality oak boards that reflect that value as well. See our oak sales page for more information.
Our joinery day rate is £165, and this includes sundries that we may use or need to complete the work. Any other materials are added to that amount. We aim to offer competitive pricing, however, have the confidence to offer exceptional results, every time.
